PostSubject: It was a flying fish   It was a flying fish Icon_minitimeTue Apr 15, 2014 1:51 pm

He circled the pond for what seemed like days. It was hard to tell in this murky swamp, any light that got in could easily be mistaken for moonlight when under water. But nonetheless, he swam, and swam, until he knew every rock and plant in it. He nodded to himself proudly.
This is mine now. My lake.
Vinny hopped out of the water smoothly and pulled his clothes on again, sitting crisscross in the mud when he suddenly felt something large looming over him. He had absolutely no time to react before being picked up by his collar by said something.
Shit.
He thrashed around like a restrained animal and did what he could to wiggle free. "Put me down this is my lake get your own!"

The hand gripping him didn't falter. The tiny fish's weight didn't register, he could be held up like this all day. A rumble escaped from the stranger as they held the flailing Vinny away from them self.
"Wrong. It's mine. Get lost." Vinny was tossed a decent distant away, but landed in the soft mud. At least from here he got a good view of this stranger.
A winged elf, of course. He had two impressive, feathered limbs sprouting from his back, which were slowly puffing up as he grumbled on about one thing or another. His hair was dark, a good length, a little past his shoulders and layered, raven bangs pushed messily out of his face. Two white, winged shaped, bunches of feathers sprouted from his head, twitching with aggravation. Not to mention his body...
He kicked some mud off his feet before turning away.

Vinny hit the ground with a loud oof and had to spit a large amount of mud out of his mouth. Of course it was mud why couldn't it have been sharp rocks those don't taste as bad.
He growled a tiny growl that honestly sounded more cute than menacing and hurled a glob of mud at the back of the strangers head. The bulk of it missed of course, but the dirt did scatter. Vinny hopped up and started back towards HIS lake. "You can't have it just cuz you're pretty!"

He halted. The feathers on his head flicked dirt off, and Vinny felt the air grow heavy.
Thunder rolled in the distance.
He wipped around and grabbed Vinny by his tiny arm. "I said get, kid!" He yanked him away from the lake and stared him down. His feathers and hair were all ruffled. Honestly it'd look so cute if he weren't a giant, hulking, angry birdman.

Vinny would was definitely going to have a few bruises on his arm, not that he was delicate this man was just unbelievably strong.
He turned his fins down in submission and shrank down. He didn't have to make the sky all scary gosh....
Now that he wasn't throwing his little for over territory he could fully admire the birdman's handsome features, needless to say they easily filled him with the desire to touch his face.
"But I don't wanna be lost I wanna stay here!" Vinny tried to wiggle out of his grasp but not exactly in the opposite direction...

He leaned away with a bit of disgust in his expression. "Stop it. I said--Jeez. Stop wiggling." He shook Vinny until he went limp. "I said stop it!"
Vinny, dazed, just hung there, and he finally put him down. "Lost my ass. Go find another lake and another elf to bother." He stared at him, expecting him to stand and leave.

Of course he wouldn't leave he was far too stubborn for that, plus this man was so interesting. He wasn't a human, he wasn't tideborn so what was he exactly? Did he say shelf?" Vinny sat their without moving for a few seconds then crawled closer to stand and sniff at him, circling him a little poking at his arm. Vinny REALLY wanted to touch his head feathers, but he knew he'd probably get his arm broken if he tried anything of the sort, but then he saw another equally puzzling thing.

"Why do you have hairs on your chin??" He leaned up on his toes to get a better look, head cocking from side to side and spots blinking with interest.

The elf stood still, watching the tiny fish inspect him. "Didn't I say lea--Hey!" He puffed up as Vinny reached up to touch his face. Eventually he just gave up.
"Because I'm an elf, dipshit. I guess tideborns don't get body hair?" He pushed him away a little with his foot.

"Body hairs?" Vinny shook his tiny head a little. "No no I just have head hairs!" He ran his hand over the top of his head a little to emphasize his point. He kept creeping back up each time Gate pushed him back like a tiny spring, he wasn't going to leave so easy.
He touched the tips of his fingers to Gate's chin gently, rubbing them up and down to feel and chuckling a little at how weird it felt on his fingers. "I like your hairs and you smell like flowers" He sniffed him again.

The bird-man held his face away, lip curling into an irritated snarl. His wings spread suddenly, alarming the tiny fish and causing him to stumble back. It was much like the way a tideborn would flare out their fins, and it was the sign that he had had enough.
"I do not care as to what I smell like. Leave my swamp and quit distracting me."
What was he doing before this? His hands clenched and unclenched with anxiety as he tried to remember, eyes shifting from place to place to grasp a clue.
No.
He forgot completely. How?
He let out a loud snort and growl before kicking a rock clear out of view, then turning to head toward his stone house. Golden pipes popped out here and there, steam spewing from various ones.

Vinny hid in the water for a few moments, peeking out every few seconds o see how far away Gate was. He was scary, but interesting!
He crept closer as sneakily as possible, jumping behind trees and swamp plants whenever he suspected Gate would turn around, eventually reaching the large house. His eyes grew wide when he layed eyes on it, having never encountered any building of the sort.
What was with all the steam? Maybe he lives in a bath house.
Vinny crept up onto the porch, only to get the door slammed in his face. He yelped a little, covering his tiny nose and sniffling as a tiny trickle of blood fell down over his lip. "I wanna go inside too!"

There was no response. The house was very rumbly, like a sleeping dragon... Only with steam! It felt warm, but not too warm. Cozy warm. He could smell so many things inside, it was driving him nuts!
He gently pushed the door open to at least peak inside. The elf's back was turned, seeming distracted by something else. The inside was dark, dimly lit by fire and... Some kind of glowy orb on the roof? It had fancy metal around it. Maybe it was magic!

Vinny crawled in closer to the giant orby thing but soon something caught his attention, or rather his nose's attention. He sniffed and sniffed at the air, following the amazing smell into a room with hard cold hard floor and a bunch of weird rectangle things. He tracked quite a bit of mud in considering he was thrown in it, but nothing that was too hard to clean up.
Vinny followed the smell to a large white box. It was cold to the touch and had a seal on the side, this thing opened! When he did he was met by a tiny gust of cool air that felt amazing in the heat of this swamp, needless to say he crawled in, moving all kinds of weird foods around, tasting a few of them of course.

Gate's head snapped over. He growled, tossing whatever was in his hands down and stomping over. "Get out! Get out! Out!" He yanked him out roughly, throwing him to the ground and slapping the refrigerator door shut. "You are two seconds away from being killed. Leave before what little humanity left inside me withers away at the sight of you!"

Vinny's fins pinned down fully as he shrank, frightened by the yelling coupled with the very harsh aura.
Gosh what a grump.
He swallowed and scurried out to the doorway, peeking around it for a second then quickly moving his fingers out of the way before they were slammed. There wasn't much to do now but sit on the porch silently, he was a bit too afraid to do much else.

Hours passed before the door moved again. All it did was twitch as if he was moving something around inside. It started to rain and get muggy and chilly, not even a good kind of chilly. It was the gross kind that just made everything around miserable. Or at least sad, at best, in Vinny's case.
Night fell and the moon took over. Not that anyone could see it. Lightning cracked through the grey clouds, startling the tiny tideborn. The porch kept Vinny just damp enough to stay comfortable, without the rain beating down on his tiny body.
Gate sat inside near the fire, a glass of warm liquid in his hands. His feathers went up, sensing the pink fishboy outside, still. He groaned, but didn't move.

Vinny held his hands tight over his fins and curled up. It wasn't so much the threat of getting struck and burning to a crisp that scared him but the loud surprising crack associated with it. There weren't very many places to hide on the porch, all he could do was huddle by the door and wish the storm would pass already.
He let more than a few whimpers when a particularly loud crack startled him too much, and Gate heard, it was next to impossible to not hear him with his senses. His small body was shivering, if only it wasn't so darn loud the rain might be kind of nice....

He growled, slamming his cup onto his desk and getting up. His tired, worn wings dragged against the floor. It made a soft, scraping noise, that came to a halt when it got too close to the door. He gripped the handle, hard enough that the metal squeaked with protest as it bent ever so slightly.
Loosening his grip, he inhaled, exhaled, and opened the door.

Not a moment later he dashed inside, skittering straight to the corner to huddle. His clothes and hair were sopping wet, which was odd for a tideborn, and a bit...concerning. His skin was now a pale pink, and the brilliant spots along his body refused to glow anymore. All he could do was sit in the corner and tremble from the loud thunder. He wouldn't be able to say it, but he was thankful to be inside now.

Gate almost had his legs knocked out from under him, catching himself on the door and growling as he slammed it shut. "You're getting water all over the damn--"
He cut short, seeing the little creature tremble. He dropped it completely, wiping up the water then positioning the little guy closer to the fire. Vinny didn't even squirm or fight back, just sort of let himself get moved.
Once he dried up a little, Gate grabbed a thick, fuzzy blanket and laid it out for him. He was surprised at how fast the little guy nested in it, but didn't comment with anything further than a snort.

Vinny wrapped the blanket around himself and curled up in front of the fire, close enough that it was comforting but not close enough to be tender on his skin. He let himself rest still for a bit, only moving his head around when Gate passed.
After an hour or so he started inching his way over to the large man at his desk, still covored with the fluffy blanket. "T-thank you for letting me in,"

Gate let out a soft growl as a reply. It wasn't hostile. In fact, it was more of a grumble.
His feet twitched as he sat back and read over something, then put his cup down to write something, then continued reading. Honestly, he was wondering how he'd get this little guy OUT of his house.

With that deep grumble he calmed down, it was powerful but still soothing, making him comfortable enough to scoot closer to him.
Ooh that crawlspace looks snuggley!
Vinny crawled into the space under Gate's desk to curl up, leaning partially on his legs. It was especially cozy considering he was surrounded by walls and giant man legs, perfectly concealed from enemies. His color began to come back a bit now that he was feeling better, and with that so did his glow.

He ignored the tiny tideborn, shifting his legs a little with surprise then relaxing and focusing on his work. He didn't want to tell him, but he guessed he had to. "Gate."
He didn't ask for the tideborn's. He knew the little guy would tell him anyway.

While waiting for an answer he looked over Gate's legs, his shoes and socks in particular. They were so weird looking...and shiny! He hopped up when Gate finally spoke, hands rested on the bit of chair between Gate's legs and face popped out into his lap. "Ok i'm Vinncent I like your name and I like your feet blankets too!"
