"Agreed, even if you did kind of steal all their thunder there Khaba." He noted some of the dirty looks the performers gave him when he got the audiences attention, but shut them up quick with a look of his own. "Sometimes I wonder how you havn't run off to the circus yet."

"Me too!" He smiled and flopped back on the bed. He had to admit, he missed sand. But he didn't speak about it. Instead he let himself worry about their parents. Were they freaking out? He bit his lip and closed his eyes.
Horus' fins flared. He sensed his brother's worry but didn't want to mention it seeing that Tabu would probably go on some rant about disobeying their father.

Tabu noticed as well but ignored it, he didn't need more to be guilty about on his mind right now. He simply laid back on his bed and exhaled into the soft fabric, pulling the pillow over his head to block out any light. "We should get out of the palace more often, I've been sleeping great." Saying this reminded him of the charm Khaba bought for him. He dug it out of his pocket and clutched it, bringing it under the pillow with him.

Khaba settled down with Horus. The inn was always nice and cool, so hiding under the covers was expected. He huddled up against Horus and pulled out a book to read, Horus simply sitting there, focused on his bean cake. After a few more bites, he spoke up.
"I want to see snow."

Tabu lifted up the corner of the pillow to look at him. "Snow....Why snow? When you say see do you mean SEE or go where there's a lot of it." Their father made it snow every now and again but it never really stuck to the floor for long, but still he had to wonder where the sudden interest in it came from.

"I want to see it." He repeated himself, messing with his bean cake before chomping the rest down and lying his head on his brother's lap. "But going where it snows is close enough..." He closed his eyes. Khaba shook his head and sighed.
"Maybe after we return home from this little adventure."

"Yeah I definitely wouldn't mind. Being out of the palace has been great. Not to mention out of the sand." Tabu like traveling, or rather the experiences that came along with it. Always changing, new faces to see, sights to take in and so on. He wouldn't mind traveling the entire world.

Khaba nodded. He missed the sand, honestly... But traveling was nice. He still felt bitter over Tabu's reasoning for traveling int he first place. He ran is tongue across his teeth and sighed. "I wouldn't mind, either, but one step at a time for now." He rested a hand on Horus' head, gently brushing his hair.

Tabu watched the two of them out of the corner of his eye and felt a bit jealous, but was also too prideful to move himself over to them. "...Yeah. We'll have to head back soon."

Khaba nodded. "Yes... And face whatever waits for us back home..."

Arnost contacted them the following night. He appeared in the dark in complete silence and out of absolutely nowhere. He spread his wings, glowing in the darkened room. Khaba wasn't surprised, only Horus really was but that's only because he was woken up from one of his many naps.
"He is ready." He exhaled through his mask. With that, he disappeared.
Khaba put his book away and sighed. He got up and helped Horus change before changing into different clothes and try to make himself presentable.
"Well... Are you ready?"

Tabu looked as dashing as usual, but still primped and prepped what he could of his hair. He stepped closer to Tabu and fixed what he could. "Your hairs still a mess." He fixed up both of his brothers up and exhaled, hands on his hips. "Ready."

Khaba nodded. He gathered their things and headed out.

Horus sneezed. Khaba made sure he wasn't sick as they waited inside... In front of the throne room's massive doors. The guards here were clad in beautifully crafted dark armor, lacking helmets. Instead, they had masks over their mouths that resembled dragons. Their gaze did not falter... Khaba was a little amazed, honestly. He was so used to the hidden faces of the Shroud.
A servant hurried over. He was pretty all, hair pulled back into a long ponytail yet stray strands fell over his face. He pushed his glasses up his nose a little better. "Apologies! But the Prince isn't... In the throne room. Could you all follow me, please?"
Khaba blinked, and looked back at Tabu, who shrugged. They followed.
The castle was massive... Possibly bigger than the palace. Definitely cleaner. The floors were so clean, they were like mirrors. The walls were designed and painted and decorated... Everything had... A dragon design to it.
They stopped at more big doors... The servants opened them...
It was his bedroom. Kendrick was laughing, standing next to the massive bed. The prince turned his head at his guests. Khaba noted something else shifting under the covers... His cape? No... Wings? He blinked. They all entered, Khaba letting Tabu go first since he was the best at talking.
Honestly, the prince looked like nothing more than some scruffy street kid. His eyes were sharp and his expression a little sour. They couldn't tell if he was bratty... Or intimidating. He sat up a little better, his lower body still under the blankets. His cape shifted again. Khaba couldn't see it well, but it bothered him. He wanted to know what it was.
Horus squeaked.

Tabu allowed himself a few seconds to take in the area for precautionary measures, then put on his usual smooth smile as he stepped forward to greet the prince. "When we requested an audience with the prince I had no idea it'd be in such a comfortable setting." He bowed just slightly to show his respect, but not in a way that would make one question his status. "Princes Tabu, Khaba and Horus Alucard your highness."

He waved his hand. "Prince Honorous Emir Ancrath II, pleasure's all yours." He let out a massive yawn and a stretch that took a few seconds too long for Tabu's patience. Kendrick kept one hand on his sword sheath at all times, but kept his friendly smile.
"Kendrick said you had some questions?" He eyed them suspiciously, shifting again. It was obvious he was more curious about them than he fully let on.
Khaba nodded. "Yes, regarding the prison."
"What of my prison?"

Tabu's eyebrow twitched a bit, but he kept his composure nonetheless. "We had a few questions regarding the recreational aspects of it. Why pit the prisoners against one another exactly?"

The prince laughed. It was a long laugh that Tabu hated, knowing he had no power here to do much about it. After his cackle he flopped back. "Kendrick could have answered that. For entertainment. Not only that but do you even know the crimes they have committed? To be sentenced something worse than death is to be locked away in my precious prison." He swung his hand about lazily as he spoke, then let it drop.
"Any other questions?"
Kendrick shifted is weight. Khaba eyed the hand on his sword.
Kendrick eyed Khaba back.
They stared for a long time before they both cracked a toothy grin to each other silently.
Horus simply listened.

Tabu grit his teeth further, the lot of them all putting him in a sour mood for some reason. "Even still, after a lifetime of being tortured this way wouldn't you say it's well, overkill?" He was obviously speaking about Eros, maybe he was biased, who knows. What he did know was that this little prince's attitude about this particular subject was getting on his nerves.

The prince's gaze sharpened. He looked a little annoyed. Kendrick noted this quickly and cleared his throat to speak. "Actually, the prisoners don't have to fight, they have a choice."
Khaba put his hand on his brother's shoulder to calm him. When Tabu met eyes with him, Khaba shook his head as a sign that getting angry wouldn't help their case.
"I have a question." Horus spoke, finally.
The prince looked at him, gaze still sharp and aggravated, but also somewhat curious.
"Speak."
"Are you a dragon?"
Khaba blinked, confused. Dragons were ancient creatures, rare and exotic and usually extremely selfish and power hungry. He tried to hush Horus but was cut off by Emir's answer.
"Yeah."
Oh.
Khaba looked up. He squinted and realized that this boy wasn't a winged elf of some sort but had the wings of a dragon. He gulped. That might explain the possessiveness over the prison, and the sort of hoarding behavior he had with prisoners.

Tabu blinked, taken aback a bit. "How'd you know that?" He asked his brother blankly then sighed. "Never mind, anyway, what choice? Doesn't seem like there would be many for a prisoner."

Horus was pleased that his question got answered, smiling a little and mouthing "thank you" in the prince's direction. He leaned on Khaba's arm and listened quietly as Kendrick answered for them.
"So they are given one. By the time many of them even hit the prison, they're less than human."
The prince spoke up. "I know you are interested in one of our most known prisoners. His full records aren't here, though." He got up. "You're a friend of his, right? He runs with Shroud now or something." He waved his hand about as Kendrick tried to position a coat around his webbed appendages sprouting from his back. He was looking at Horus when he spoke, as if Tabu didn't exist. Motioning for them to follow, he stepped toward the door as it opened. Horus followed happily. He hopped over the prince's scaly tail, using its sliding noise to figure out where it was dragging.
Khaba stopped Tabu from speaking again. He spoke very quietly. "Just let him talk to Horus. He likes Horus... You two are too similar." He smiled a little. "We'll get more information if we stop questioning him so much."
Kendrick stepped past them. "He'll tell you. He doesn't get visitors that don't want to kill him often." He smiled. "Or visitors that have left alive. But hey those two are the same thing." He went ahead.
Khaba shrugged, watching Horus try to carry Emir's tail.

How in the world was this guy anything like him??? Too similar.....preposterous.
Tabu grumbled a bit and huffed, but took his brother's advice, distracting himself by thinking of other things until he was calm again. He kept his eyes on the back of Horus' head, old childhood jealous tendencies starting to come back a bit.

Khaba smiled at his brother as they walked down the impressive hall. Tabu had to admit this castle was a lot nicer than the palace, at least different. The palace was built a lot differently, beautiful in its own way, but this one was really...Shiny. They moved to a room that seemed like a massive lounge... Mixed with a library. Tabu could actually enter without the presence of the dream witch heavy on his shoulders. Horus put the tail down and stumbled on the thick, beautiful rug. Kendrick caught him with his arm. Horus didn't weigh anything to him.
"Careful there." The prince looked back a bit and dug through some books. He pulled one out, then opened it, pulling out some papers. He handed them to Khaba and Tabu. Khaba looked over it with his brother as the prince explained.
"Though Kendrick cared for that prisoner last, this person knows about Eros' life before he was transferred to my prison. If you wish, Kendrick and his guard guide you."
Khaba stopped Tabu from denying. "We should talk about this..." He whispered.
The prince took the hint and walked with Kendrick to the other side of the room. Horus resisted to follow. What was on the papers? A map? He didn't want to ask.
Khaba stared at the drawings. "This is in the mountains. But that's a few days worth of traveling. We don't know the territory but Kendrick does. Do you still want to do this?" He honestly wanted to travel. But it was mostly up to Tabu. He was curious about Eros' past, as well... And Horus seemed to be getting along with the young prince, this could mean good.
But...
"Horus would you be okay?"
He was sitting on the floor. He looked a little sad.
"I'll be okay. The prince needs allies." He lowered his voice. "And so does the Shroud." He raised his head a little. "But I'm worried about dad. And the Shroud."
Khaba nodded. He was worried, too. He wondered why the prince was being so friendly, but had guessed it was because they were more well-known than he thought. Alliances were on everyone's mind, no one wants more enemies. Not only that, but Khaba had another suspicion he wanted to confirm before they left. Maybe he could ask Kendrick. Or get Horus to do it.
Horus started shivering.
Khaba pulled him up and hugged him. "Tabu, it's up to you. We'll have to wait a little bit, though. Horus might be getting one of his fevers."
"I'm sorry." Horus smiled a little. He didn't want to drag his brothers down. "I'll be okay, Khaba."

"It's fine Horus..." Tabu thought hard about this. He had always been good under pressure but with the nature of this situation he was feeling much more of the heat. "...We arn't exactly prepared for an extended trip, i'm sure Emir would compensate for us but we have to think about Shroud, they're probably still in a frenzy because of us."
He started to feel guilty again, almost like he abandoned his kingdom...
"What do you think, there seem to be even pros and cons with both options. Horus is getting sick but we could use allies."

Khaba eyed Kendrick, who was talking to the prince. He looked worried and concerned.
He faced his brother again, shrugging slightly, careful not to move Horus too much. "We can send note that we are fine, tell them we went on a small vacation and didn't plan to be out that long. It will ease their worries. As for Horus, I will tend to him tonight. If he's really not well, then we can ask to delay. The prince and him seem to get along."
Horus nodded. "The Prince is nice. I'm sure he wouldn't mind."
Nice? Sure, a little generous but Khaba thought "nice" was pushing it.

Tabu still wasn't sure with all of this, but felt pretty outnumbered. "I suppose it's decided then." He adjusted the collar of cloak and exhaled. "I guess we'll be leaving as soon as Horus is well enough." He almost wished that he could simply go off alone, he really didn't want to have any more of this kind of information about Eros shoved down his throat, but the kingdom comes first. It always did.
